Pa Salt is in all the books. Where is he hiding in The Missing Sister?

It has been mentioned that Pa Salt is hiding in all the seven books.

For the first six books, I think the list is clear:

The Seven Sisters, he is the little boy of 7/8 years we meet in Paris. Bel, Laurent and the Landowski’s save him in 1928.

The Storm Sister, he is Bo, who we meet with Elle, Pip and Karine in Leipzig, Germany in 1938.

The Shadow Sister, he is Mr Tanit, who we meet at High Weald with Mrs Tanit (Elle) in 1943.

The Pearl Sister, he is the grey-haired man we meet on the boat to Australia in January 1949. He is looking for a blonde woman (Elle) and is Sarah’s friend who cries a lot. We also believe he is the man that showed up at Kitty’s old house in Broome in 1980, looking for a relative.

The moon sister, he is the man that buys Isadora and ice cream in Granada, Spain in 1951. Angelina also told him about his daughter and read his fortunes.

The Sun Sister, he is Mr Tanit, who saves Cecily in New York in 1947.

But where is he in The Missing Sister?

I have no clue. I know there has been someone on the forum “De Zeven Zussen Forum” that thought he might have been Pa Griffin, who we meet in Ireland after Merry’s adoptive mother died in 1960. Merry’s adoptive father used to go there. He ran the bar and built coffins of wood (?). Bo in The Storm Sister also carved a piano chair for Pip, and in The Shadow Sister, Mr.Tanit built a wooden rose arbor for Flora in her garden. The same was also in his favorite garden at Atlantis. Based on my timeline, we do not have another location for him between 1951 and 1974, so in that sense it could work. But why would Pa Salt be there? We know he was looking for Elle and Merry since at least 1949. He knew about Merry since right before she was born, in November 1949. Maybe he was working there “undercover” to try to find out what had happened to her?

Timeline, Pa Salt

But what if its more complicated than that? What if Pa Salt is hiding behind another character?

I do not think he could be Ambrose, which I have explained HERE.

Could Georg actually be Pa Salt who meets Merry at Ambrose’s house in one of the last chapters? Based on the descriptions, I doubt it, as he is said to look like he is in his late sixties and introduces himself as Georg Hoffman, but still, I feel that Lucinda has “tricked” us before, so could it be possible?!

What do you think?

  1. That’s a very interesting thought,Pa disguised as Georg Hoffman.I have recently reread the book and there don’t seem any good candidates for him.I got to wondering if Harry just got it wrong.I don’t see why he’d be in Ireland except undercover.I half wondered about Bridget’s dad but I’m not convinced.

  2. Knowing what we know now that the last book is out, Pa never suspected Ireland would be where Merry was so it’s unlikely he ever travelled there.
I think I’ll re read the books soon and with the Missing Sister will look carefully for a reference to him but am thinking maybe there is not…
