THEORY – SPOILER ALERT
Did Pa Salt a.k.a Mr Tanit work in (millitary) intelligence after, or during, WW2? Or maybe he took part in the French resistance movement?
Bo and Elle left Norway right at the beginning of WW2, via a fisherman boat to Scotland in Ally’s book, The Storm Sister.
3 years later, in Star’s story, The Shadow Sister, we meet Mr and Mrs Tanit in England at High Weald during WW2 where Mrs Tanit (which I am sure is Elle) is helping out Flora in the kitchen. Mr Tanit (which I am sure is Pa Salt) is working in the garden and as a driver.
High Weald is located close to Ashford Airbase, where they had squadrons from the RAF and RCAF plus the Yanks (Americans) , where Archie work.
Louise, Archie’s daughter’s fiancé was working in intelligence. He visited High Weald when Pa Salt and Elle worked there, so it is safe to say they met early in 1944 during his visit.
We know that Bo (Pa Salt) had a dislocated elbow, which probably meant he could not take part in the actual war.
So what if his way of fighting the Germans, and potential Russians, was through him being “a magician of sorts”, travelling the world with his “wife” Elle? He sure had the right qualities for a job like this with him;
- being an expert linguist, speaking multiple languages including English, Norwegian, German, French and possibly Russian and/or Polish (from his time with Landowski in Paris)?
- having a good knowledge of navigation
- he spoke little, and kept to himself to protect the sisters. Because he knew too much?
- he must have had special resources available to track down the story of all his daughters later?
We know that Elle and Pa Salt left High Weald in May 1944, when the airbase where Archie worked was bombed. Did they go directly to America?
The Nuclear arms race was another important historical event during the WW2, and ran during the Cold war as well, which was basically a race between America and Soviet Union on who could first develop the nuclear bomb. With both countries probably spying on the other. Pa Salt is often referred to as “carrying the world on his shoulders”, could he have something to do with this particular event in time?
3 years after they leave High Weald, in early 1947, we meet Elle and Pa Salt in New York, America. Pa Salt then saves Cecily when she takes part in a demonstration in Harlem. They later have lunch together, where Pa Salt and Elle tells her they were well travelled and had spent time in England during WW2.
The Cold War, which some say was kicked off in March 1947, from the annunciation of the Truman Doctine which I will leave you to read as I am no expert.. But the point is, America was on one side, and the Soviet Union (Russia) on the other, and that Pa Salt was in America when this all started. Maybe this event is not too relevant to our key person, but more the fact that we believe he has ties to Russia, and maybe his work in England, as a potential intelligence officer – or maybe even a spy – could be the reason why we meet him here in this exact year and month? Shortly after meeting Cecily, Pa Salt and Elle went back to England. Again, would he not be the perfect candidate?
So from early 1947 until 1949, we know Pa Salt and Elle first went to England. But then we lose track of them. Did they continue working in intelligence from 1947 to 1949?
In January 1949, Pa Salt is boarding a boat to Australia, with Kitty, Eddie and Sarah all aboard. He is in distress as he seems to have lost Elle. Were they supposed to run away together because they knew something incriminating to someone? Did someone take Elle? We know Elle gave birth to Merry, their daughter, in November the same year, at Argideen House, Ireland after this particular house was bought by a family named ESZU.
Did Pa Salt know something about Kreeg Eszu that would incriminate him somehow? I get the sense that Zed Eszu is also lurking around the girls, as if he is looking for something. Is this related to why Kreeg and Pa Salt “died” at the exact same place and time? Did Pa Salt fake his death in an attempt to save the sisters?
Or is this theory simply just one of many? What do you think?
I don’t get this : How come Merry was born in November 1949, but PaSalt and Elle lose each other in January 1949?
Merry could not have been conceived before February 1949 🤔

yeah i thought about that as well, but she was born in the first week of november, and pa salt seems to have lost elle at the end of january. so basically, she could have been a few weeks over the due date and it could just work. its also mentioned that she was a large baby, so maybe that could just work?
